Getting warm and cozy for Fall 2021
As the temperatures drop, we’re getting ready with warm sleepwear and soft, luxurious loungewear
After a summer of crazy temperatures and continued turbulence thanks to Covid, we’re glad to welcome a new season, with hope that it brings a little bit more stability. After all, there’s something comforting about starting to hunker down for the winter months: getting our cold weather wardrobes ready, spending more time indoors, in bed, and in front of the fire, and generally ramping up the cozy factor in our lives.
The same goes for our Fall 2021 collection. After a summer inspired by garden parties, alfresco picnics and the great outdoors, this season is all about warmth, softness, and comfort. The Fall 2021 collection features cozy flannels, pretty linens and soft cottons in inviting shades of navy blue, charcoal grey, creamy white and pale pink, alongside classic stripes, herringbone and the return of an all-Canadian favourite, the buffalo check. Here are some of our highlights from the new collection.
SAY HELLO TO A LUXURIOUS HOUSE DRESS
This season, we’ve introduced a new shape in the form of the Epaulette Sleep Shirt, a traditional button-down nightshirt with a flared body and just-below-the-knee hem. It also has full-length sleeves with a sleek cuff and shoulder seams with epaulette detailing, and we truly believe it’s one of our most elegant styles yet.
We’ve also reissued the Dropped Shoulder Sleep Shirt, one of our best selling shapes from 2020. This style has a casual, relaxed vibe and works well as a poolside cover up for the last few weeks of summer, before becoming the ideal shirt for lazy weekends and lunches at home.
THE NEW WOMEN’S COTTON NIGHTIE
In addition to the Epaulette Sleep Shirt and Dropped Shoulder Sleep Shirt, the Fall 2021 collection includes a brand new nightie: the A Line Nightie. Like our best selling Sleeveless Nightie, this style is also sleeveless, falls to the knee, and has two side seam pockets; however, it has a scoop neckline with pleated gathers instead of an adjustable drawstring and back tie detail. Both are roomy, comfortable and suit a variety of body shapes, and are ideal for hot sleepers or layered under a robe or knit cardigan.
INTRODUCING THE LUXURY MEN’S SLEEPWEAR CAPSULE
Perhaps most excitingly, however, is the fact that the Fall 2021 collection includes a men’s capsule—our first ever proper collection for the guys and one created in response to lots of feedback and messages we’ve received over the years. You can read more about the new men’s collection here, and shop the pieces here—there’s a Men’s Short Night Shirt, a Men’s Long Night Shirt, a Lounge Pant, and also a new Unisex Robe.
This Unisex Robe has a straight sleeve and body, and is shorter than our previous robe. It looks equally good belted or worn open, and is available in our classic Oxford Stripe Cotton, linens and the popular Red Buffalo Check Flannel—our pick as we head into the cooler months.
QUALITY SLEEPWEAR SEPARATES
Finally, as with every collection, Fall 2021 includes new sleepwear separates, and our favourites this season are the Long Sleeve Shirt and the Slash Pocket Pant. Both of these were first launched in 2020 and were immediate best sellers, which, besides the fact that they’re stylish and truly toe the line between loungewear and suitable working-from-home-wear, is why we’ve decided to bring them back.
The top features a straight, fitted body and a shirt collar (again, perfect for those Zoom calls, especially in our classic Oxford Stripe cotton), while the pant has a straight leg cut with slash pockets. Worn together, they make a sophisticated pyjama set, although we also wouldn’t think twice about heading out to run daytime errands in this ensemble.
AN UPDATE ON THE FABRICS OF THE SEASON
Here at The Sleep Shirt, we’ve always said that we believe in sleeping in natural fibres: we think it lends itself to a better night’s sleep, and it has much better sustainability credentials as it lasts longer and will decompose at the end of its life span. That doesn’t mean that we don’t take pride in introducing new fabrics each season, though, and for Fall 2021, that means a 95% cotton, 5% cashmere blend (called our Cream Cashmere Blend) that’s luxurious, super soft, lightweight, warm—and, importantly, still machine washable.
The collection also includes a new, super-soft Navy Twill Flannel and Black Houndstooth Flannel, a Portuguese cotton flannel with a tiny houndstooth weave in black and charcoal grey. We’ve also reissued our Red Buffalo Check Flannel—a true Canadian classic. These are all super cozy options that actually have us counting down the days ‘till colder weather.
Of course, no collection would be complete without some new stripes, so for that, there’s the Navy Herringbone Stripe in white and navy blue and the Skinny Light Blue Stripe.
