Matlo Atelier's take on Day Pyjamas

We're thrilled to share our first fashion collaboration, Matlo Atelier X The Sleep Shirt - a project we've been working on with fellow Canadian brand Matlo Atelier. Friends for over two decades, Jason Matlo, founder of Matlo Atelier and our founder, Alexandra Suhner Isenberg decided it was high time to collaborate on a project after meeting back in fashion school.

Together they wanted to offer a chic dress inspired by the classic nightshirts of our brand with Matlo Atelier’s glamorous made-to-measure finish. This shared pursuit of excellence in fit and finish, as well as a love of effortless, wearable fashion that pays respect to tradition while striving for modernity resulted in the design of the Helena Dress.

Named after Alexandra's daughter, this feminine nightgown's foundation was inspired by our traditional nightshirts. Alexandra asked Jason to rework one of the best selling nightshirt shapes into something of his own and the result is a combination of the two brands' signature elements. The Helena dress has the sleeves, straight body, and the back yoke details seen on the majority of our classic shirts. Jason personalized the shape by adding a glamorous necktie and a ruffled hem.

The Helena Dress will be available in three of our classic fabrics. The signature Blue Oxford Stripe, a medium-weight 100% cotton university stripe in blue and white, that's most often associated with our brand. Black Linen, a colour palette staple that is always included in Matlo's offerings, and White Seersucker, another classic in our assortment - this seersucker is woven in Japan and features a crisp yet soft hand.

This chic, feminine and playful dress is made to be multi- functional and can be worn for an active life and workday, a modern cocktail dress that will make a statement after 5pm or for lounging around in some serious style.
