CELEBRATING OUR 10TH ANNIVERSARY
The Sleep Shirt was founded in 2012 by Alexandra Suhner Isenberg, a Central Saint Martins alumni who started the brand with a single nightshirt. Its design was based on a classic 19th century men’s chemise, the most comfortable and stylish thing she had ever slept in.
Ten years later, that ethos – stylish, comfortable sleepwear and loungewear – still rings true in every collection, including The Archive Collection, a limited-edition capsule to mark our 10th anniversary. The Archive Collection features five shapes, each inspired by a vintage piece found in France and given a traditional French girl’s name. All five pieces come in a range of beautiful fabrics, including eggshell flannel, natural linen, soft cotton, and, of course, the brand’s signature blue Oxford stripe. Details include gorgeous pintucks, Victorian-style buttons, blouson sleeves, ruffled hems and delicate lace inserts.
Like the brand’s best selling Long and Short Sleep Shirt, the Martine Night Shirt is a versatile piece, with a subtle blouson sleeve and delicate gathers at the back of the neck.
The Clementine Nightie has a gathered neckline and slightly exaggerated sleeves with an embroidered guipure lace band that’s made from GOTS-certified organic cotton and using a process that takes 50 times longer than traditional lace weaving.
The Alexandrine Nightie has a sweet ruffle detail at the neck and sleeves and three delicate pintucks on the back, while the Severine Dress and the Delphine, a full-length version of the Severine, both feature gorgeous tulle embroidery made from the only GOTS-certified embroidered tulle or mesh in the world.
”For Archive, I wanted to create nightshirts that really paid tribute to vintage pieces, but updating them in a way that makes them wearable and versatile for the modern age. We paid a lot of attention to the details, choosing the most beautiful lace possible and ensuring everything feels both modern and timeless.”
— Alexandra Suhner Isenberg, founder and designer
