Below is a simple guide to the fabrics we use and how they behave.

COTTON

Smooth Shirting Cotton

Refined shirting cotton chosen for its smooth hand and polished finish. Breathable and durable, it softens beautifully with washing while maintaining its structure.

• Opacity: Opaque or Semi-Opaque (varies by colour)
• Feel: Smooth

Oxford Cotton

Classic Oxford cotton with gentle texture, structure, and depth in the weave. It begins crisp and relaxes with time, developing softness and character through wear.

Cotton Voile

Lightweight cotton voile is airy and delicate against the skin. Ideal for warmer nights and easy layering.

Understanding Weight, Opacity & Feel

We describe our fabrics using three simple characteristics:

Weight

Indicates the substance of the fabric and how it drapes.

• Light – airy and breathable
• Medium-Light – softly structured and versatile
• Medium – more substantial, ideal for cooler months

Opacity

Indicates how much light passes through the fabric.

• Opaque – not sheer
• Semi-Opaque – slightly transparent in bright light
• Sheer – visibly transparent

Feel

Describes how the fabric behaves in the hand and on the body.

• Smooth – flat, refined surface
• Crisp – structured with gentle body
• Soft – fluid and drapey
• Brushed – lofted and warm
• Textured – visible weave or surface variation
• Airy / Loose Weave – open construction with lightness
