An Honest Conversation About Prices
Dear friends and followers of The Sleep Shirt,
I want to take a moment to talk about something that can feel a little uncomfortable: pricing. As the new owner of The Sleep Shirt, I’ve felt this too.
Some of you have noticed that, since my relaunch of the brand, prices have gone up. A lot of factors have contributed to this increase - some of them within my control (I added pockets to a few shapes, and splurged on some beautiful fabrics), but most of them external, such as increases in labour costs, shipping costs, and more.
The goal is to create timeless, beautifully made garments that feel indulgent and effortless. While that goal remains the same, the cost of doing it well, using premium fabrics, paying fair wages, and sewing locally in small batches has increased.
Our garments are crafted in Vancouver using premium, ethically sourced natural fabrics and sewn by highly skilled professionals who are paid a living wage - because quality of life matters as much as quality of product.
These choices are intentional, and they matter. Every piece you purchase supports a network of Canadian workers and their families, and helps build a brand rooted in craftsmanship and care. These pieces may cost more than those from larger retailers, because we’re investing in more than just premium fabrics and quality manufacturing - we also invest in our community, our makers, and a more thoughtful way of doing business.
We know our pieces are an investment - we’re proud of that - they’re made to last. Not just through the season, but through years of wear.
If you’ve shopped with us before, thank you. If you’re new here, welcome, I trust you’ll feel the difference.
Most sincerely,
Rebeka
